Bringing Positive Change to the World

As former co-founder and program manager of poetryN.O.W.—a creative writing program for students in the D.C.-metro area. I crafted a creative writing curriculum used in classrooms across the nation. After five years, I brought poetryN.O.W. to its new home at Split This Rock, a poetry and social justice organization based in D.C.
As the youth programs coordinator at Split This Rock, I supervise youth programs in over 25 high schools and train facilitators to lead writing workshops for K-12 students.
As a program manager at the Mentor Foundation USA, I led an effort to revamp Shattering the Myths, an interactive leadership training program that seeks to remove the stigma around substance use and mobilizes youth ambassadors to connect their community members to recovery resources, using poetry.
As a solo performer for 15 years, I performed at PSI’s National Poetry Slam five times, and ranked 16th at the Individual World Poetry Slam.
