Motivational Speaking

My motivational speaking is a combination of my own life story, the stories of the hundreds of young people I’ve worked with, and the wisdom of an infinite number of mentors I’ve had. I use these stories to create custom experiences for the audience I’m speaking with. I use poetry to forge a connection in a style that is more conversation than presentation. My goal is to have a ripple effect on the audience to take a message of hope, energy, and love with them and think about how they can use their own experiences to create change.

• Recovery and Prevention -- I use poetry interwoven with storytelling to share my battle with addiction and recovery to deliver a message of inspiration for people who have chosen careers in prevention, intervention, and treatment. I also pull from my 10 years of experience building and implementing youth-focused development and prevention programming.

• Youth Development -- I use stories pulled directly from my almost 2 decades of work serving youth all throughout the country. Audiences will learn from my triumphs and challegnes as a career teaching artist and as the co-founder of two of the largest youth-serving poetry events on the east coast.
