"During Friday’s Opening Plenary Session, spoken word artist and motivational speaker Joseph Green mixed poetry and storytelling to help attendees reconnect with their original motivation for entering addiction medicine.

His goal was to remind them that, as important as it is to know what we are fighting against, it is more important to remember who we’re fighting for.

Saturday night, during “Be A Guiding Light: A Special Performance and Session,” Green — youth programs coordinator for Split This Rock, an organization that uses poetry to enact social change — shared how ASAM members can find the power of their own story."
